Arrived in Kuala Lumpur for the first time in April 2008 for a whole new career and a whole new life i guess...
and KL is food heaven!! i mean the different cusines and lifestyles...
well as all expats, i started to buy the Timeout KL magazine to check out the happening places in and around KL. Not that i had any friends in KL to go around with but just loved to read about the new restaurant openings and the best places to eat out in KL and etc..
so basically only when family and friends visit that i go around discovering new places to eat..
and one of my friends who is a chef who was currently in Singapore at the time visited me and took me to Jalan Alor.. i fell in luv with teh place instantly and that has become my must do places for any visitor who comes and stays with me.. i go to the chuh chuh restaurant...
few favourite dishes are the hot and spicy squid, the sting ray, asparagus and prawns, black pepper crabs and chilie crabs, special prawns, etc
then when you look at food courts the best food court in kl is Pavillion...
so many choices and very good food and clean!
and then i discovered suzi's corner which is a 5min walk from where i live.. the best steaks and roti canai and mutton curry etc
And then Starhill has all the best restaurants - Shook is one of my favorites..
La bodega for yummy tapas and the best coffee is served at Illy in Pavillion apart form the people watching i luv this place..
And my only close friend in kl whose also working in a leading telco company introduced me to the best banana leaf food in bangsar which is the nirwana maju... best indian ever...
so my family travel very often to visit me and i think every member of my family has come to KL more than 4- 5 times for the 3 years i've been living here and everytime they come its our routine to head out to jalan alor, suzi's corner, pavillion food court, nirwana maju, starhill and then we try out all new places...
in my other posts i will be talking abt different restaurants and best dishes in each place... hope you will enjoy just the way i enjoy myslef...

School days!
My school days are the best days of my life... Our school been an all girl private school.. we used to have the best of times...
well as a tiny tot i used to eat alot and still not put on weight.. but sadly thats not the case now...
in school the best food i remebered was brought by my bestfriend and she used to bring the best roasted beef sandwiches... yum yum yum...
and i used to eat all her sandwiches and leave her with only 1 or 2.. and the cheese balls (potatoes and cheese made into small balls and fried) which is a easy to do recipe and so tasty..
we used to have a tuck shop which sells hot dogs ( Buns with sausages) and chocolate meringue...
when i think of school i think of my fond memories or munching something and jabbering abt boys, school and how we hate to study...
my best time in school is when im with my best friend and my other closest friends...
we used to go for after school classes first eating either at my bestfriends place.. or even at a food court in some mall... we didn't have much of an allowance so we used to buy 1 plate of fried rice with chicken or something special and share it among each other..
then i used to always fall asleep at classes as i was too full after a heavy meal... it used to be greek and roman civilization (GRC) classes..
We also had a another class for GRC where we had other students from different schools.. yeah even boys in our classes... and we used to buy snacks and bring stuff from each ones house and most of the time just jabber, eat and do a bit of studying as well...
The friendship we built up during our GRC classes whilst munching something yummy is seen today nearly after 10 years have passed on.. still we meet up and enjoy a a cup of coffee or something stronger and always something to eat...
i would like to dedicate this post to all my friends from school, tution classes and anyone i have met at a function, seminar, event or anything to do during the wonderful years in school...

Born to a Foodie Family!
Been the only child in the family and also the youngest makes you feel spoilt.. but my mother used to always know to keep a right balance and teach me everything about life at a very young age..
Mostly my fond memories of my mother will be when she's whipping up a yummy butter cake, eclairs or cream buns... she loved to cook and she loved to eat.. though she was a diabetic patient from her younger days and she was blind in one eye that never stopped her cooking for her little girl..
My Mom's family is the foodie family.. all my cousins and i used to always meet up on sundays and go out to all the sunday brunches and spend our days swimming and ofcourse eating!!
I used to be scrawning looking girl but with time you could say i have become bigger with my passion for food.. which i am not that proud about..
i guess my passion for food started from my mother's influence and ofcourse my father used to make the best pork chops and pastry's...
oh i nearly forgot we owned an ice cream parlour too.. home made italian ice cream.. the first ice cream parlour in Sri Lanka - Venice Ice Cream... unfortunately after a few years with all the new ice cream parlours and more cheaper places popping up we had to close down... but it was good while it lasted..
I should say my cousin who i treat as my elder brother is the one who loves his food and loves going out and trying out new things and his friend who was basically like my 2nd brother.. we 3 used to love going to new places in sri lanka and just try out all the dishes.. and i learnt my skills of ordering the best dish in the restaurant through them..
they even go to the extend of going into the kitchen and speaking to the chef.. so far i havent done that..
Our family has even a mix of japanese blood in it explains why we love our sushi and sashimi.. my uncle is married to a japanese lady and my cousins are half japanese but thier born and bred in Sri Lanka... and we get to eat home made sushi and sashimi and the list goes on...
anyways i could go on and on abt my family and how we love to eat, drink and dance.. i think its them who made me to become a foodie... and specially been the youngest and been the only child had its advantages...
Our family from my grandfather to me we love to entertain and give ppl to eat.. its in our blood and in our culture.. so with the influence of my family i have started my journey of a foodie with a true passion....
